Poway Junior Vaqueros is a fun developmental competitive soccer program designed to build the necessary skills to become a successful soccer player. Fundamentals are taught by professional coaches and their assistants in age appropriate drills and activities.
The weekly games are in small sided formats 3v3 to 5v5 which have been demonstrated to not only be preferred by young players, but to develop their skills better than larger formats.
Junior Vaqueros is targeted to younger players. Players that love to play. Therefore, all practices are based on fun games. Players must spend the maximum time possible in contact with the ball. Basic motor skills like walking, running or jumping have to be combined with ball handling and ball control to enable the players to learn soccer skills more effectively as they progress into the years which are the primary years for learning basic skills.
We typically to run approximately 28-30 practice sessions. We use US Soccer’s recommendation of 2 sessions per week of approximately 75 minutes for this age group.
